All squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares. All squares are rhombuses, but not all rhombuses are squares. Not all rhombuses are rectangles, & not all rectangles are rhombuses.

I guess what I'm saying, in short, is that while bronyism itself is not a negative trait, the ones who go around dressed as ponies all the time are squares.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Making fun of furries will never be outdated.

^^I go through all the trouble of setting up that great geometry joke, & all you can say is "making fun of furries is passe"?

The very same.

"I like Star Trek" is a very easy way to say that you're a fan of the series, and so it's easy to get the visual image that you have a mild or moderate love of it.

"I am a Trekker" conjures up different images that border on obsession. Not that that is entirely accurate, and there are many ways to have a healthy obsession with something, but just thinking about it in those terms brings up much more hardcore variants of the obsession rather than the lighthearted view that some might pass off.

As with many things in the media and social awareness, the loudest (i.e., the most obsessed) tend to get the voice of an entire wide-ranging group... meaning that they're the thing that gets most associated with the label.

I'd say I'm trying to care about the topic, but I really don't. Every brony I've met has made me uncomfortable. However, I mildly enjoy the show and have nothing against someone enjoying it, but most people take it in a direction that I perceive as going too far.

Ponies can be part of a balanced [strike]breakfast[/strike] lifestyle, but it's not good if it's all you watch.

Though, saying "most people" in the fandom are like that is hyperbole. FiM may be a haven for social misfits who awkwardly proselytize, but they don't comprise the majority.

I have never been able to understand why you would hate someone over something they do/like/looks like.

I think that you should be open and accepting towards everyone despite their interests and social skills, even though i did not say hello back to a gentelman that greeted me the other day but how he said it and the whole situation felt a bit wrong (don't yell Hi 20 meters away to people that you don't know please), i prefer a subtitle hello when eye contact have been established and if you want to talk i am all for it it's a shame more people don't do that myself included,

And i don't think anyone should be judged based on these things either, i don't see anything wrong with liking Justin Beiber i might think that you have bad taste in music but i won't give you more than a remark containing water living rodents and hopefully something we both can laugh about.

Exceptions to this is if said person is being a ****, dick, ****tard, assclown or other ignorant behavior that takes away the fun for everyone ellse, your perceptions to this might differ from mine but i won't care less if you want to Drink your Liver to death every Friday, Do all the Drugs you want to do, Living with only eating asparagus or dress in any way you want as long as you aren't Hurting others when you do what you want to do.

I am myself a big fan of animation in all kind of media and i watch the series in question and i will probably be watching the next season too mostly cause i want to follow a series through when i watch it, i hate waiting etc etc and i don't think i have ever lied about that i am a Die hard Rock N roll fan who thinks Lemmy = God, enjoys Videogames, Booze, finding weird stuff on the internet and Women in Varius Stages of Dress and undress But i don't think it makes me a dick for liking that.

And yes you have a right to say what you like and don't like but you sure as heck don't have a right to force me to listen to you, good speed to you but if im not interested im not going to take 5 mins and listen what you have to say.

I suppose my coming across of only the stranger fans being a matter of coincidence could be within the realm of possibility- it's simply that those who make people uncomfortable seem to be the ones most commonly vocal.

I don't particularly feel misunderstood---but then, I don't exactly go around loudly proclaiming my bronydom (or trekkerdom, or gamerdom, or 'comic book guy'-dom, or etc etc etc) to the four corners of the earth, either. More because I don't like bringing undue scrutiny upon myself than because I'm ashamed of liking X. Like who wants to go under the microscope, anyway, innit.

My take on the matter: Grown men like this pony show in part because it's a result of their innate desire to explore the girly stuff they used to call "yucky" when they were asexual, preteen boys. Makes sense, no (okay, maybe it's a bit of a stretch)?

I don't see there's anything inherently, egregiously girly about MLPFiM, save that the main characters are themselves female.

Like, I'm manly as hell, here (you can't begin to imagine the amount of time I've spent sharpening knives over the years), and I don't have a single problem relating to Fluttershy or Rarity as characters. If someone else does, maybe the problem is more on his end, less on the show's, already.

That was actually a lot of what drew me into the show when I first started watching it, since it was much "girlier" than anything I'd ever bring myself to watch before, and it felt a bit like living a part of my childhood that I previously felt I wasn't allowed to.

Of course a lot of fans don't have that reaction on account of having been used to shows like it, or just not feeling like it's a big deal at all. So that's definitely not the only thing the show's got going for it.

You really have to wonder about anyone whose gender and sexuality are so flimsy that something like the color pink threatens their manhood. It's kind of like the ****tiest version of Green Lantern imaginable.

Not to mention, it wasn't a conglomeration of girly stereotypes. ("Hey everyone - let's go obsess over boys that have the personality of a cardboard cutout.")
