Netflix has announced that its forthcoming live-action series Resident Evil will be released on July 14, 2022.

The series which was announced in 2020 will star John Wick actor Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker. He will be joined by Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nuñez.

Netflix has previously confirmed that the series will feature a dual timeline. One timeline will follow Wesker’s children, Jade and Billie as they “uncover [secrets that] might just be the end of everything”. Another timeline will take place “well over a decade into the future” where thirty-year-old Jade struggles to survive and come to terms with her sister, her father, and herself in a world taken over by zombies.
I am sure this is going to be bad, and not in a fun way like the Resident Evil movies. It will be interesting to see exactly how they ruin it at least.

Anybody actually expect this to he good? I'd like to be pleasantly surprised but their track record is not great with anime and game adaptations.

Their track record is GREAT with game adaptations: Castlevania, The Witcher, Cuphead.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

It's great with adaptations that haven't been made yet; what the hell's the point of adapting 'Resident Evil' now, after I can't even remember how many brick-stupid live-action and CGI flicks.

This is akin to NetFlix making a new live-action series of 'Transformers' now that Michael Bay's had his fun. We left this evil in the past------------there let it stay buried.

Does RE as a franchise give a crap about Wesker these days? I don't think any legacy characters have shown up in the series since RE6, which came out in 2012. Is there enough fan love for Wesker that people will watch a show about his smelly children?

^ Even if Wesker's smelly offspring do garner enough fan love, that dual timeline juggling reeks of messy writing. I'd easily bet against this being good.

At least it'll definitely be better than a few other adaptations Netflix is cooking up. No way on Earth are they going to make a good One Piece film lol, honestly I don't think that's even possible, to be fair.

I meant to specify live action stuff such as this. Even still, there's more gaming adaptations than I expected so I actually shouldn't judge a lot of it.

Regarding Witcher, I only watched one episode. It didn't compel me to watch the rest, but it seemed average, I suppose. I've seen mixed opinions on it.

The anime adaptations are definitely rough though. Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note, and Cowboy Bebop for example are notoriously bad. I went into FMA blind with low expectations and it was still laughably awful. Bleach looks okay, haven't seen it yet, but I think it's fair to say they have a spotty record.
