YouTube about to change old Unlisted vids to Private

On July 23rd, YouTube will automatically change any Unlisted video uploaded before 2017 to Private, rendering links & embeds to such videos useless.
If you have a YouTube channel with old Unlisted videos, though, you can opt out of this. The instructions on how to do so are here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9230970
If you have playlists that contain old Unlisted videos, I recommend downloading them within the next month, just in case those creators don't find out about this or don't bother opting out.

I wonder what the purpose of that is. I doubt it'll effect what I watch though.
