It's new! It's new, and I love it! I want to pat its fluffy ears and rub its mane in my face and scratch myself with its dewclaws and tusks! Beloved new topic, be mine! Be mine forever, or at least until I tire of you.

Last thing I watched was Spookingtons' Halloween 2017 video. Spookingtons is the best YouTube channel no one but me loves. It's where Hsu and Chan live. Hsu and Chan. Can this video truly have less than a thousand views? I'm bewildered!

FUNNY YOU MENTION REBOOTS for you see I watched the pilot to the new Card Captor Sakura! I'd already read the first chapter of the new manga after totally not binge watching the original CCS while on medical leave last summer and it was a nice refresher.

Last thing I watched was a bunch of SA2B Hero Story speedrun attempts.

I learned that there's been a new skip in the Crazy Gadget level (previously there was a skip that was creatively named "Crazy Gadget Skip"). This skip is called Crazy Gadget Skip Skip. This is probably old news but I never knew that's what CGSS stood for before now and I can't get over it.

10/10 watching experience for that tidbit alone. Even tho strimmer didn't pb, smh

So I started watching 'Wakfu' on the train out to Dakota last week. Eight(?) episodes in, and I like it lots so far. It's imaginative, and the animation is almost scarily good for a teevee show.

I LOVE WAKFU AND YOU JUST REMINDED ME I NEED TO RE-BINGE IT ALL BECAUSE I WAS CAUGHT UP AGES AGO BEFORE IT FINISHED!!!!!!!

last thing i watched was part of a paper mario all cards speedrun. i like this category a lot. as much as i appreciate all the glitch-hunting and technical skips used in any% and other categories, i do appreciate watching runners play more of the game while still going fast lol

i should listen to my own recommendations, dang

out of curiosity what language are you watching in? years ago there was an english dub in the works but **** if I know if it ever actually became a thing. I hated Tristepin's dub voice, plus watching it in french was a good excuse to 'work on my french' (lmaooooo right), so that was clearly my language of choice.

Watched the first episode in English, then switched to French+subtitles from the second ep on. Like the French version better (English Yugo had kind of a dumb, off-putting voice).

Nice of Netflix to put in multiple language tracks. Some services are a little remiss about that (Hulu only gots the dub version of 'Princess Tutu'. Hmm).

So I've watched some of the new MST3K.

...you know, I don't like it very much. I mean, I like some of it. The host segments are class, right. I like the deliberate cheesiness of the effects and props and all. But the main event isn't great. Like, I'm primarily here to watch them riff on a movie, and the riffing simply isn't very funny. To me.

My nephew's been watching Medabots, and I thought it was alright. I remember seeing it a long time ago too actually. It's basically Pokemon but with robots but with much less emphasis on collection. It's obviously pretty much just a kid's show, but the battles are still neat and it is funny at times. Medabee is a fun character, his lines are entertaining.

It tries to have mature themes sprinkled throughout, like this grieving widow who befriends a wandering Medabot, but...like, it's kinda absurd.

Uh, so, I binged like 5 episodes of the Tales of Zestiria/Berseria crossover anime ((more heavy on Zestiria so far which I'm super down for)) because I accidentally got really invested in Zestiria, oops.

It's about 6/10. Would probably be 7/10 if there weren't terribad CGI in every episode, a shame since the game's art direction is really good IMO and the anime sometimes captures that and sometimes very much doesn't. But at least the pacing is fine and it's doing a good job of introducing characters and concepts.

Sorey and Mikleo Are Gay/10

EDIT------

binged another 4 episodes lmao what is having a life

So, once it gets into the Berseria stuff the tone shift between the two stories is, uh, kind of awkwardly abrupt. Like, both stories are good, but I question the way they are currently going about mashing them together. I'm sure it'll all tie together in the end but I mean one of them is High Fantasy With Angst and the other is Dark Edgy And More Edge. The palettes are different, the character archetypes are different.... it was very jarring.

The story pacing is so far better than the game imo (at least for Zestiria which I have a frame of reference for) and they changed some story beats to avoid putting in gimmicky gameplay stuff/better dramatize other stuff, which I appreciate in a 100% narrative-focused medium. Mikleo and Sorey continue to be increasingly gay and I'm down for that, but also I just really like Zestiria's concept and setting which is so far adapted well.

CGI is still godawful. Also, the OP is cool I guess but it does not compare to the Zestiria game OP which is **** legendary. Overall rating remains about the same. I'm absolutely loving it but there is certainly a lot to critique here

EDIT EDIT---

So I woke up early before work to watch another episode this morning and yeah it's the gayest yet which is honestly saying something
Spoiler.
Lailah: "HURRY! DECLARE YOUR TRUE NAME TO SOREY!!"

Mikleo (sly grin, running forward dramatically): "He already..."

Sorey (stupid grin, turning around dramatically): "--I ALREADY KNOW IT!!!"

*dramatic anime fusion*
10/10 episode because we've been waiting for this since the heckin beginning and they FINALLY DELIVERED

I haven't watched any new anime series in almost six years. The last one I watched then was The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. So it's only right that the first new series I watch is The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan. I just watched the first six episodes, and man, it's great to see the S.O.S. Brigade again.

I'm still waiting for Asakura to go axe-crazy though. I know this series is in an alternate timeline, but I just don't trust that girl.

This is forever emblazoned in my mind from The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya:

...gods below.

I've rewatched 'Over the Garden Wall' a couple times now, and it gives me the wild willies every time, man. That last episode in particular is an exercise in fear, and feels.

...the Beast kind of hits me unaware every time. It never stops being scary.

Episodes 10-13 of The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan are four of the most beautiful episodes of television ever.

I finished bingeing the entire Zestiria anime!!

1. I sincerely hope that the anime ******** that happened in the final boss battle here also happens in the game because that was unbelievably ridiculous stupid cool in the best way and I loved it so much

2. The 2 episodes in the middle of season 1 that were just Berseria out of nowhere could have literally been cut out of the anime and it wouldn't hurt the show in the slightest. The rest of the anime was just Zestiria with a mention of Velvet at the very end. In fact taking those episodes out would be an objective improvement because the tone shift was jarring as hell and we didn't get enough time with the new characters to give any craps about them. Just.... make a Berseria anime if you want one, guys...?

3. I cannot believe this show had twice as many of the Gays than initially advertised. Rose/Alicia is absolutely a thing in the last episode and I am here for it.

4. okay I get that they cut out and changed a lot of stuff in this adaptation because that's an inevitability when turning a huge JRPG epic into a 26-episode series, but THEY LITERALLY **SHOWED MIKLEO'S TRAGIC BACKSTORY** and then straight up DIDN'T EVEN TALK ABOUT IT because they were out of episodes I guess and had to wrap it up. But you can't just do that???
Spoiler.
you don't just show Michael sacrificing him and little babby human Mikleo and then NOT EVEN BRING UP THE FACT THAT THE KID WHO WAS SACRIFICED WAS MIKLEO????? COME ON
like I know the game itself kind of glosses over that plot point but at least they, like, acknowledge it at all in the slightest

5. terribad CGI oh god the source game has such gorgeous art direction, and it really shows sometimes in this adaptation, but then it pulls some godawful CGI bull and you're like 'nvm'

6. Mikleo shouted Sorey's name no less than 13 times in the last episode. I think that rate is giving Colette a run for her money as far as "shouting one's boyfriendo's name a lot in Tales of anime" goes.

7. i cried a lot during the last episode

8. Symonne's arc is one of the most rushed bad guy arcs of all time. The pacing in season 1 was really good other than the Berseria episodes, but season 2 not so much. Also I don't even think fox dude got a name in the anime, although his character was done slightly better justice than I anticipated. I hate his character type, but his design is cool at least.

VERDICT: 7/10

There are plenty of things about it that are garbage but there are also plenty of things about it that are absolutely one hundred percent my **** and in the end I loved it so much. It's not a good stand-alone anime but it was GREAT for someone like me who's absolute Tales of Zestiria garbage and who already loves the world and lore and characters.

Dragon Ball Super Episode 129

Ultra Instinct Goku landed the best blow on Jiren of the entire tournament so far. I can't wait to see him get mopped up.
