They keep casting Gal Godots and Charlize Therons to be the evil queens and it's like....that mirror is just trying to press your buttons, Snow White can't compare.

Maybe part of the point is that that's how insecurity works no matter how good you look. Then you tear down other people to compensate.

The Joker sequel seems kinda bad, I forgot it was even releasing until recently. I'll still watch it only because I watched the first one with rock-bottom expectations too so who knows, but usually I can tell crappy movies at a glance.

...you know, every time one of those asshats throws a rock in Charlie Brown's bag, I want to punch their goldang head off. You can't just be a flippin' knob and not give Charlie Brown anything while you're snowing his friends under in candy bars and treats and all--------you have to put a rock in his bag so he thinks he got something.

Charlie Brown should remember which rocks each house gave him and then go out and break some windows. Or even just get Snoopy, his famous WWI adventurer dog, to plant some 'landmines' on his neighbours' steps.

Why doesn't Charlie Brown sic Snoopy on people he doesn't like? Snoopy would still be lovable if he ate some people. I mean, everyone loves Yoshi, and he eats people all the time.

...you know, 'Peanuts' enters the public domain in 2040. We could be a mere sixteen years off from one of them garbagey "beloved fictional character snaps and starts murdering people" horror flicks. Maybe Charlie Brown dies as a result of Lucy pulling away the football that one time too many, and Snoopy requites himself via a good old-fashioned rampage of blood and carnage. Maybe it turns out the Kite-Eating Tree is actually an evil dryad who serves some terrible old pagan deity of vengeance, and it grants Snoopy dread arcane powers in exchange for the souls he harvests.

2040, wow. We really need to reduce how long it takes for stuff to go into the public domain.

...yeah, I think I agree. Sooner or later an artwork should just belong to all mankind. Like, I'm sure I don't know, but I'm pleased by the notion of 2173 rolling around and people just broadcasting the original theatrical versions of the SW flicks any place they like, and Lucasfilm/Disney/whoever not being able to do thing one about it. (It's a possibility. Like, if Disney couldn't stop 'Steamboat Willie' from entering the public domain, I don't see how they'd be able to keep SW back.)

^Exactly. Steamboat Willie hitting public domain was in fact because Disney couldn't convince the government to extend copyright any further, as they'd done a couple times before. Disney's active trademarks will still stand as long as they protect them, so nobody else will be able to steal their branding or *monetize* their movies, but one-by-one the works WILL become shareable for free.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I suppose if you're willing to be coy and circumspect enough, you don't really even need to wait until something enters the public domain to make a stupid horror movie about it.

It's not illegal, it's only scummy enough to make a cockroach barf.
