Have you watched Soul?
Did you enjoy this film?
In New York City, pianist Joe Gardner teaches music part-time at a middle school while dreaming of playing jazz professionally. When he receives an offer for a full-time teaching position, his mother Libba urges him to accept it. Joe learns famous jazz musician Dorothea Williams has an opening in her quartet and auditions at a jazz club. Impressed with Joe's piano playing, Dorothea hires him for that night's show. As Joe heads off, his excitement distracts him, and he falls into a manhole down the sewer drain.

Joe finds himself as a disembodied soul heading into an afterlife dubbed the "Great Beyond". Unwilling to die, he tries to escape but ends up in the "Great Before" — a realm where souls gain personalities and interests before being born on Earth. In the Great Before, counselors — all named Jerry — prepare unborn souls for life with the help of mentor souls. Each soul has a badge that grants passage to Earth, once the badge is completely filled with personality traits. Mistaken for a mentor, Joe is assigned to train a soul named 22, who wants to avoid Earth. 22 discovers that Joe's physical body is hospitalized and in a coma. She agrees to let Joe help find her "spark" — a soul's personal passion — to complete her badge so he can use it to return home. After Joe fails to find 22 a spark, they visit "the zone", a place that souls enter when their passions create a euphoric trance, but becomes a trap for obsessed, lost souls. They meet Moonwind—a galleon captain—who helps the duo locate Joe's body on Earth.

Oh yes, Soul is such a good movie. I love how full-blown surreal they went with the afterlife.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

^...hmmmmm. You know, I was kind of not ever planning on watching it (most times when I go on Disney+, I wind up watching old Silly Symphonies, or checking out a new ep of 'Ghost and Molly McGee', or rewatching 'Jungle Book' for the zillionth time), but if you vouch for 'Soul', then it's probably really good.

You know what I hate the most about media, and by media I mean western media. You have a person who could be ID/described as "African Decent"
and they can not make that person just look or be normal. I know they do that thing where the men clearly look goofy in comparison to the women where they make her half normal, and of course individualism, but in real life it is not that way. By the way it is called "Soul"......"Roll Eyes".
When I read the title I thought it was going to be something about the little spirits and mysticism. Nope.

What do I get, a guy who is up on his luck and then blam he dies. Clap Clap

Oh wait it even gets better then that they mention "Mother Terisa" AKA a woman who hoarded millions of dollars and reused needles among other efforts which founded her to be an obviously corrupted individual. I am not going to go into the Catholic blah blah rambling but just hearing her name being mentioned is terrible enough and in a Pixar film.

^^ I think that character's design is an outlier, I highly doubt it's intended to be offensive or anything. If you look at other black Disney characters like the Princess and the Frog girl, she was designed to be pretty.

There's a lot more wrong with Pixar films than that. They routinely contain objectionable content now. I miss the days of their wholesome classics like Toy Story.

Actually I watched it before a long time ago. I just did not remember until I checked it out again.

Take "original Animaniacs" > "Recent Animaniacs" as the ultimate example of what I am getting across.
