My goal!!!

#1

Post by Erdawn Il Deus » Thu Jun 03, 2004 12:30 pm

Recently I've gotten intoa serious RPG craze, and have listed out the RPGs I need to play if for the experience alone.

Sooo...

I am replaying ff8, and actually enjoying. The game is... well... quite good, actually. But it has several flaws.

I have begun Terranigma and am somewhere in Chapte 2, and have also downloaded the lost and reputed Treasure Hunter G(Square's last game for the SNES). It's quite fun and lighthearted, and the graphics. Are. AMAZING.

I also want to play Xenogears, dammit. And beat Zenosaga: Episode One.

I am also going to play ff6 from begining to end for once in my miserable existance. I've played it thousands of times, here and there, version after version(even one with the DIRECT and ACTUAL translation, which was availible at the Cult of Kefka's Snes ROMS) but never from begining to end. SO either I'm going to find out how to use save files and download one that will enbale me to play through it via NewGame+ like breeziness, or get it somewhere and do it for real.

That's about all I've thought of for now. Besdies playing and beating Chrono Cross. And getting over my conflict over playing Kingdom Hearts or not.

Xenogears is good, but you should be warned, that once you finish Disk 1, Disk 2 is pretty much a waste of time.

I still havn't gotten around to beating either Xenosaga or Kingdom Hearts. Oh well.-jay

I really didn't like Terranigma very much. It bored me out of my mind. It was just "Go into tower, kill all the bad guys in one to three hits."

If it gets any better than that I might consider giving it a second chance.

Treasure Hunter G was pretty fun. (I liked the magical monkey, I named him Spank.) I didn't finish it because I lost all of my files before I could get too far.

It changed a bit after a few towers.

Spoilers

You go into some alternate dimension type thingie (it's been awhile, i don't remember exactly what) and I remember it being a lot harder than the towers which were easy.
Total slaughter, total slaughter. I won\'t leave a single man alive. La de da de die, genocide. La de da de dud, an ocean of blood. Let\'s begin the killing time.

It's Xenosaga with an X, not a Z. (though it actually sounds that way)

Xenogears was pretty good, but the beginning of Disc 2 will most likely want you to smash the game up in anger, same with that annoying encounter rate.

Final Fantasy 8 was also pretty good, except Junctioning can get annoying but it does make your characters super-powerful (Nameley doing 100,000 damage to Ultemacia), and the summons are the best.

Trust me, it starts off slow -- the towers are really just training, and very efficient training at that -- but Terranigma will pick up. Hell, after you beat the five towers the plot escalates... and after Chapter 3... well. ;)

And for the record, I know it's Xenosaga. I'm just lazy and the typo king.

Hey, is Star Ocean any good? And how about Valkyrie profile?

How dare you think twice about playing Kingdom Hearts. ¬_¬ That's one of the best games out there.

It's for the SNES, and you would need DeJap's translation patch unless you can read Japanese. There is no problem whatsoever with starting with SO2, as the connections are minor. You will miss some in-jokes, but nothing major. Valkyrie Profile is quite fun. Think Paper Mario with every number blown up to ridiculous proportions and set in a really depressing atmosphere.

I would have VK but the video store I bought in from held the only broken copy. Ironically the only copy as well.

And since I've just figured out how to use Translation Patches(Word: I am in a state of euphoria) I can play SO1!!!

I'm looking for Star Ocean 2...The only problem is the fact that it's almost as hard to find as Tactics Ogre and FFC before it became greatest hits edition.
