From FF Insider
It's been a week since the exciting announcement of Final Fantasy 12. In the interview with Hideo Minaba and Akihiko Yoshida, some interesting information was revealed. According to GameOnline, Mr. Minaba and Mr. Yoshida commented on the possibility of involving "Clan Battles" in Final Fantasy 12.

"Of course FFXII will have improvements from FFX. Although we cannot say in specific details, there are some possibility that "Clan Battles" may be provided in the game..."

Regarding the quality of the characters, FFXII will use the same level of quality as FFX, just like FFXI. Regarding the story, Yasumi Matsuno commented he's trying to make it brighter as possible.

Also, regarding the main visual image, this is an artwork of a battle scene. They said there are secrets hidden behind the airships drawn in this artwork. They added, they may have provided the scene with the airships in the game.

Other informations include:
- Maps have 360 degrees view.
- Most voice casts are doing their character's motion capture
etc...

Lastly, they commented on the development team current in the project. Including the voice cast, there are 300 plus staffs. About 100 voice actors and actresses!?

He looks worse than Tidus, and I doubt they'll pull the Sphere System again.

^I'm talking about I.Q. Tidus's I.Q doesn't even reach that of a Shining Force Enemy.

Final Fantasy XII is about to make a big public splash at the upcoming Jump Festival, scheduled to open its doors in Tokyo over the weekend. But before that, Japan's Famitsu Magazine has managed to pick up new information on the game.

First, a few new details on Fran and Balfree, the two new characters who were unveiled late last week (see this story for details). According to the magazine, the two characters will join up with Vaan and Ashe early on in their adventure. Balfree makes use of a gun as his standard weapon but will also be able to use other weapons. Fran, meanwhile, uses swords as well as hand-to-hand combat. Fran is meant to be very cute (something that doesn't show too clearly in the pictures, if you ask us).
As this game is being produced by Yasumi Matsuno of Final Fantasy Tactics fame, you can expect many characters aside from the four revealed so far to appear in this game. This will include additional characters who will join your party as well as main characters who are not playable.

One of the big changes to the game this time around is how the characters are shown on the world map. As with Final Fantasy XI, a character who's equipped with a particular weapon or set of armor, will be shown on the map in equipped form. The world map, incidentally, is expected to be quite big, although not as large as that of Final Fantasy XI.

The game's battle system has still yet to be revealed in detail. The development team is hoping to go beyond the more free-moving style of battles featured in Final Fantasy X-2. It's said that the battle system will surprise you, although the changes are really just evolutionary to the series.

Additionally, further details on the story have been revealed in only sparse bits. The magazine reveals that the air pirates, of which Balfree is one, are outcasts from the Empire and operate in a lawless state. Also, as revealed during the recent Q&A session with the FF staff posted here at IGN, there will be many airships in FFXII. The small airship Balfree pilots is one example, and it will have its own set name.

We expect to get another look at FFXII this Saturday. Stay tuned for a full report on what we see.

It will probably be PS2 exclusive. I don't see why Square would change now.

Air ship pirates, city of technology, sure sounds like the makings of a good FF. Hell we get the world map back!

I hope that means we actually get to fly the airship again. Looks promising so far.

Hmmm... sounds like a cross between FFTA and the traditional RPG action. This could be quite interesting.

I wonder if they'll have Nu Mou in it. They'd probably look pretty interesting in 3D. And if they have Moogles, then I can't wait to see A18's reaction. ;) :D
