Well, I just beat this game for the first time--gotta say, it was pretty dang awesome. Ness is the coolest.

When it said "The End...?" It made me really sad because there's no sequel in the states. :(

That made a lot of people sad...And frustrated. Gotta love it when movies and games leave things open for a sequal, only to leave that void wiiide open. -__-*

^^Mother 3. Yes, it's a sequel. From what I understand
Spoiler.
Pokey is the leader of New Pork City in that game.
But the problem is it needs to be released over here. Even more so than any of the FFIV stuff Square is planning. They're forcing people to obtain the game illegally because Nintendo is run by a tool who basically said "Screw you, Earthbound fans! You're not getting Mother 3!" And it's pissing us all off. -CSM

Hey CSM how 'bout you spoiler that third sentence, eh wot?

And way to misrepresent the situation, man. It's not just one guy responsible for us not having Mother 3, and it's not some kind of vendetta against us that facilitated this situation.

But yeah, EarthBound is awesome, arguably the best RPG ever made. It's certainly the most thought-provoking.

How so?

And CSM, I know there's a sequel--that's why I said "in the states."

These are pretty great articles that cover why EarthBound is so fantastic from the perspective of a person seeking to partake in art rooted in the medium.

There's more to it, though. EarthBound's world is subtle and textured like no game before, and probably no game since.

I was looking for Mario cameos and saw that a guy in one of classrooms asks if you've ever played SMB7 :wtf:

Then he says he hasn't beaten SMB3

Is Japan keeping secrets

You know...I like 'Earthbound', I truly do, but I don't really understand what the fuss is all about. It's good, and it's charming, but people go well bananas over it--it's a bit much. It's like when I hear people waxing rhapsodic about 'Shenmue' or something--I can't help but ask myself, "Am I missing something? Was it really that good?"

Well, I mean, certain others may be getting something else out of it all together. It's the kind of game where you basically can get damn near anyhing out of it depending on what you're looking for.

Didn't know you played it, though. When was that?

^Many years ago, and then again a couple years back. I got it about a year-ish before I went NEXT-GEN and got a PSX (call it 1996, maybe?). I made it about halfway through back then before getting distracted. On my more recent attempt, I made it almost to the end. Then I got distracted again. It happens. (In my defense, I'd just gotten my PS2...)
