The "Dammit, Yuffie, stop loading my gun with blanks!!" Clause

In most RPGs, a Sword can do more damage than a Gun, which seems like it is firing blanks instead of regular bullets. Examples include Final Fantasy 7 and Dark Cloud 2.

When you're killed in battle, you can simply be revived with an item, spell, or visit to an inn. But if it happens in a cutscene, you're gone for good.

The main character will usually have spiky hair.

Dragons, rats, and dogs can fit into little multicolored balls that can be transferred to your PC from about anywhere.

The main character's sword is always the biggest.

There's always somebody out there who either wants to rule the world, or destroy it. Whoever it is, he/she is omnipowerful, and could take you out in seconds. That is, if he/she came out of his/her fortress once and a while.

More often than not, when you're hurt, numbers will suddenly appear near you.
